RIDERS INFOMATION

 

 

Driving Licence & Rider Requirements

At VMS Motorcycle Tours, your safety and compliance with Cambodian law are our top priorities. To join one of our guided motorcycle tours, all international riders must meet the following requirements.

Required Documents

Before your tour begins, you must have:

✅ A valid passport
✅ A valid motorcycle licence from your home country that covers the motorcycle category you will be riding
✅ A valid International Driving Permit (IDP) issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention
✅ Travel insurance that covers riding a motorcycle of at least 450cc in Cambodia

Please note: As our tours use the CFMOTO 450MT (449cc), a valid motorcycle licence and International Driving Permit are mandatory for all international riders.

Before You Travel

After confirming your booking, please email us clear copies of:

  • Your passport

  • Your motorcycle licence (front and back)

  • Your International Driving Permit (IDP)

Our team will review your documents before your arrival to ensure you are eligible to join the tour.

Tour Check-in

At the start of your tour, please bring the original documents for verification.

Our team will:

  • Verify your passport, motorcycle licence, and IDP

  • Keep a copy for our tour records

  • Ask you to sign our Motorcycle Rental & Rider Responsibility Agreement

Rider Responsibility 

Each rider is responsible for ensuring they:

  • Hold a valid motorcycle licence

  • Carry a valid International Driving Permit

  • Comply with Cambodian traffic laws

  • Have appropriate travel insurance covering motorcycle riding

 

VMS Motorcycle Tours reserves the right to refuse participation if a rider cannot provide the required documentation. In such cases, cancellation fees may apply.

VISA FOR CAMBODIA
 

For most nationalities, a tourist visa can be obtained upon arrival in Cambodia or applied for online before travel. The tourist visa fee is approximately US$30 for a stay of up to 30 days (subject to change by Cambodian Immigration authorities). Visitors must ensure that their passport remains valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Cambodia.

VISA FOR LAOS
 

Visa on arrival is available for many nationalities entering Laos. The visa fee ranges from approximately US$30 to US$45, depending on your nationality. For many travellers, including citizens of the USA, UK, and most European countries, the visa fee is typically within this range for a stay of up to 30 days (subject to change by Lao Immigration authorities).

Our team will assist you with the necessary border-crossing procedures and paperwork during the tour.

CANCELLATION POLICY


The following cancellation charges apply depending on the timing of your cancellation before the tour departure date:

45–30 days prior to departure: 30% of total tour price will be charged
29–11 days prior to departure: 50% of total tour price will be charged
10 days or less prior to departure: 100% of total tour price will be charged

These conditions apply to all confirmed bookings.

 

 

INSURANCE – (CAMBODIA & LAOS)

All motorcycles are covered by compulsory third-party insurance in both Cambodia and Laos, as required by local regulations. However, comprehensive insurance for rental motorcycles is not available.

In case of an accident, third-party insurance may provide limited coverage depending on local conditions, but the rider may still be held responsible for any damages not covered by insurance.

CURRENCY & CREDIT CARDS (CAMBODIA & LAOS)
 

In Cambodia, US Dollars (USD) are widely used alongside the local currency (KHR – Cambodian Riel). Cash payments are commonly accepted everywhere, while credit cards such as Visa and Master Card are mainly accepted in hotels, restaurants, and larger shops in major cities. ATMs are available in most towns and tourist areas.



 

In Laos, the local currency is Lao Kip (LAK), US Dollars (USD) are also commonly accepted in many tourist areas near the border. ATMs are available in most cities, although cash is still the most convenient form of payment for daily expenses. Exchange rates may vary depending on location.
